Birth of the Higher School of Real Estate Professions of Québec (ESPIQ)

News

A new milestone has been reached in strengthening ties between France and Québec in the field of real estate. The Higher School of Real Estate Professions of Québec (ESPIQ) is being launched as the result of an exemplary collaboration between the Regroupement des gestionnaires de copropriétés du Québec (RGCQ) and the École Supérieure des Professions Immobilières (ESPI), a French institution recognized for over 50 years for its academic expertise.

A French-Québec alliance dedicated to training and research

This unprecedented initiative reflects a shared commitment to deepening the connection between two professional cultures united by the same values: educating, innovating, and sharing knowledge in service of the real estate professions. ESPIQ aims to offer Québec a space for training, research, and exchange that complements existing structures while adding value through international collaboration and the pooling of expertise.

A founding friendship and a shared vision

The idea behind ESPIQ was born from a longstanding friendship and a shared conviction: knowledge is a powerful driver of social and economic transformation. It is grounded in the reality that real estate professions are evolving rapidly, at the crossroads of law, technology, and modern governance.

Continuing education and applied research have therefore become essential tools to meet new challenges in the sector — whether related to the preservation of built heritage, the energy transition, or the intelligent management of co-ownerships.

For Me Yves Joli-Cœur, a renowned co-ownership lawyer, president of the Regroupement des gestionnaires et copropriétaires du Québec, vice-president of the Higher School of Real Estate Professions of Québec (ESPIQ) and founder of Condolegal.com, this initiative represents “a lasting bridge between two continents,” built on academic rigor, professional practice, and cultural openness.

A centre of excellence dedicated to research and innovation

Applied research will be one of the foundational pillars of ESPIQ. It will make it possible to provide concrete solutions to the needs of managers, administrators, and financial institutions.

Research efforts will focus in particular on the governance and sustainable management of co-ownerships, as well as the rehabilitation and renovation of the real estate stock.

To achieve this, ESPIQ will bring together leading researchers and seasoned practitioners to develop joint training programs and research initiatives between Québec and France.

An alliance shaping the future

More than a school, ESPIQ aims to become a platform for dialogue and innovation between two continents. It brings together diverse professional networks while respecting the specificities of local practices.

Through the sharing of pedagogical expertise, scientific collaboration, and synergy between public and private actors, this initiative is already positioning itself as a model of long-term cooperation.

A unique and unparalleled project, ESPIQ embodies a shared ambition: to build a strong bridge between France and Québec to advance real estate professions, strengthen the professionalization of co-ownership management, and better prepare tomorrow’s industry leaders.
